Situation: A shallow trough lies just east of the North Island, and a belt of high pressure covering much of the South Island is moving slowly north. Forecasts: Canterbury: Extensive low cloud and fog about the coast and in North Canterbury clearing and becoming fine in the afternoon; temperatures becoming milder.
Nelson: Light winds; fine apart from isolated showers in the ranges; mild. Marlborough: Moderate southerlies; fog and drizzle on the Kaikoura coast, gradually clearing; fair elsewhere apart from isolated showers. Buller, Westland: Light winds; fine; mild in the afternoon. Outlook: Fair in Marlborough, 1 mainly fine elsewhere.
