Overseas honour for Chch-bred greyhound

A Christchurch-bred dog is helping to promote the New Zealand greyhound industry in the Netherlands. The dog, Jody Majestic, a black bitch by Corporal Tich from Tip Top, recently ran third in the Dutch championships and has been selected to represent the Netherlands at a European international meeting. The placing of Jody Majestic followed a win in the Amsterdam Classic, but she was subsequently disqualified for turning her head in the race. That problem has since been rectified.
Jody Majestic was bred ini Christchurch by a stalwart, of the sport. Bill Kingston, who owns Tip Top. a former South Island champion and] one of the top matrons in' Canterbury last year. She was initially with Bill > Gill, but at eight weeks, was bought by John van Orsouw for about $2OO. Van Orsouw’s father, Karl, wanted a dog to race in his home country, the Netherlands, and John had that in mind! when he bought her. John van Orsouw pre-! pared Jody Majestic for rac-t ing and Mr van Orsouw was, in Christchurch on holiday! when she had her qualifying j trial. After being knocked' down on the first bend and] being eight lengths behind the field down the back she stormed home to finish second and qualify comfortably. , It was some months before Jody Majestic was ready for racing after her*
