Stormy Morn gave his young driver, Ewan Pyecroft, a win at his first race drive but it was not an easy one. Stormy Morn was inclined to run in over the last 200 m and Pyecroft had. to straighten him on two occasions. He lasted it out well to beat Sam Roday and Fair Alda, which lost a handy position on the turn. Loyal Wave missed the start in the Visitors’ Handicap but he responded well for Jim Curtin to hold out Spartan Queen, well back until late, by a length and a half.
