Integration protest
PA Wellington The Committee for Defence of Secular Education has protested to the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) about Monday’s signing of agreements to integrate two Roman Catholic schools into the State system. The committee said the public had not had a chance to inspect the proposals.
In a telegram to Mr Wellington, the committee’s secretary (Mr J. Mulheron) said: “We respectfully remind you of your Cabinet colleagues’ objections to the Integration Act, lack of consultation, last minute amendments, contradictions, gagging of select committee hearings, and mad rush through the House.”
