Situation: A shallow trough of low pressure over the north of the North Island is slowmoving. and an anticyclone south-east of New Zealand extends a ridge of high pressure on to the South Island. Forecasts: Canterbury: Becoming fine inland but cloud and a few showers persisting about the coast; moderate easterlies', cold.
Marlborough, Nelson: Fresh south-easterlies with scattered showers on the Kaikoura coast and about the Sounds, fine elsewhere with light winds; frosts again tonight. Buller, Westland: Mainly light winds but fresh easterlies in exposed places; fine but cool. Outlook: Fair in Nelson and Marlborough, fine elsewhere.
