Hopes for more day-care centres
The Mayoress of Christ, church (Mrs Judith Hayt hopes that before iong dajj care centres will be attached to every secondary and intermediate school. In an address given at the annual conference of the Day Care Association at Living Springs, Ailandale. Mrs Hay said that she hoped ‘public pressure” would encourage the proliferation of day-care centres in schools “where the practical side of human re, lationship programmes can be experienced by all pupils. Mrs Hay said later than such centres would help solve some of the problems that young people starting families were experiencing. “I am sure there would ba few unwanted pregnancies it people understood what little children’s needs are,” she said. “This is bom out at tha Hagley High School dapcarq centre where the young pu, pits are involved with tha centre and learn so mud) from it.” “I think that boys need to be involved with the centres as well, so that both sexes understand what is involved in having a family,” Mrs Hay said. There was “a lot of debate’ whether day-care centres should be provided by educa[tion, social welfare, or health funds. “This is where the public has to make the decision,” Mrs Hay said. “They really belong equally to all of them.”
