Umbro soccer title to Gladstone
Gladstone has won the first, division title in the Umbro International Sunday soccer league competition. On Sunday it beat Provincial 2-0 to make certain of the title. It’s closest rival. Avonhead Tavern lost. 4-1, to Foresters. North Beach’s 3-1 win over Mastagard was marred bv a bad injury suffered by a Mastagard player. Gary Grant. It Is believed that his leg was broken in three places. He underwent surgery at Christchurch Hospital and was reported to be in a satisfactory • condition. e Smiths United’s 3-2 win over Conley and Blyth in the second division means that Smiths is almost certain to win the competition. Ron Davis scored three times tor Grenadiers in its 6-0 win over Avonhead C. - Results:—
