Cricket ‘Combat’
NZPA Melbourne An aluminium bat named “Combat” has been developed by the Australian pace bowler, Dennis Lillee, his partner in a Perth cricket coaching clinic, Graeme Monaghan, and Comalco Aluminium, Ltd.
The Australian test cricketers, Andrew Hilditch and Allan Border, tried it
out against a few fast deliveries from Lillee and said they liked it. Mr R. Steele, president of the Victorian Cricket Association, said yesterday as soon as he read about the aluminium bat he looked up the cricket laws. “There’s nothing in the laws of the game that prevent. the use of aluminium bats,” he said.
