Murder charge

PA Auckland A Paremoremo prisoner appeared handcuffed in the Magistrate’s Court at North Shore yesterday on a charge of the murder of Keith Ross Hall, aged 22. Cedric Albert James, aged 26, was remanded by Mr J. H. Hall, S.M., to August 13 for the taking of depositions. Hall had been serving a life sentence, plus a 14-year

term, for the murder and rape of a girl, aged 10, at Ohakune on November 5, 1977. Detective Chief Inspector R. Macdonald said that inquiries were continuing but he would not say whether other arrests were likely, police had almost finished their search for weapons, he said, and those seized would be scientifically examined.
