Petrol rationing scheme

Sir, — In reference to the letter from Helen Chambers and others, (July 18), we would like to say that we agree with these people and are also concerned that petrol would not be distributed fairly, as some people require more petrol than others through occupation and distance from work. Some vehicles also do more miles to the gallon. The money spent on printing and distributing the coupons could be put to much better use such as experimenting with new fuels, and developing our own natural fuel resources. We suggest that the Government think very carefully about its options and makes a decision as quickly as possible. — Yours, etc., ANDREW PAPAGEORGE, ANDREW LE BRETON, GARETH HUGHES, lAN LANGHAM, GARY SAUNDERS, LEE TIMMS, 4ES, Riccarton High School. July 18, 1979.
