Carless days choice

PA Wellington Tuesday and Wednesday have been confirmed as the most popular careless days, says the Ministry of Energy. Figures from Ministry surveys given by the Minister of Energy (Mr Birch) show that 27.6 per cent of people relicensing a car or a light goods service vehicle chose Wednesday as their earless day, and 24.5 per cent chose Tuesday. Next came Sunday, favoured by 14.7 per cent. The figures were arrived at after a survey of 15,000 registrations. Of the remaining days, 12.8 per cent chose Monday, 11.5 per cent Thursday, 5.5 per cent Saturday, and 3.4 per cent Friday. About 12 per cent of relicensed cars and vans had obtained an exempt sticker, Mr Birch said. Some exemption applications were still being considered and this could bring the number up to 14 per cent, he said.
