Sales rise in May

PA Wellington The monthly survey of retail trade by the Department of Statistics shows that in May, 1979, the total value of sales was $571.9 million. After correction for seasonal changes in purchasing patterns and for differing numbers of trading days in each month, sales in May show an increase of 1.9 per cent, compared with April, 1979.

After similar adjustment, the sales for May, 1979, were 17.1 per cent higher than for May, 1978.
