Vietnamese refugees
Sir, — Most of your correspopdents on this topic have lost sight of the main issue. Hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese have left their country. Some are ethnic Chinese; others are members of the former Vietnamese middle class, which the regime is determined to destroy. In either case they must have had good reason to embark on hazardous journeys in small boats,
leavii. o all their possessions behind. Now they are dying c. hunger and disease in crowded refugee camps. They need urgent doses of Christian charity from countries whose people should be more interested in action than words.—Yours, etc., P. PHILLIPS. July 16, 1979.
