Avonside 1 has healthy lead in table tennis

Avonside retained its healthy lead over the rest of the. field in the latest round of play in the A grade table tennis competition on Wednesday evening.

A 9-3 win over Avonside HI took Avonside I’s points tally to 20. Jt has won every match this season and with the competition entering its concluding stages, it is most unlikely that any of its nearest challengers will be able to pin its. lead back. Riccarton I, easy winners over Riccarton 11, lie in second spot, four points back. Two points further back is University, which beat Avonside 11, 7-5, with Harry Redmond and Yee Chow Boi in good form. Linwood I. in fourth place with 12 points, beat Linwood 11. 9-3. although Gary Saunders’s loss to Michael Prisk in one singles match was a surprise. Selwyn-Dallington had the bye and has its match with Avonside 11 from an earlier round outstanding.
