Meeting on crafts tax
Christchurch potters and craftsmen will meet on Thursday to discuss their opposition to the recently imposed sales tax on crafts goods and pottery. About 900 people attended a similar meeting in Auckland last week, according to a spokesman for Canterbury potters, Mr R. McGowan. He said that the Government had been asked for a moratorium on the tax. A reply was expected today. If it was unfavourable local potters would introduce their own moratorium by refusing to register themselves.
The Christchurch meeting will be held in the Great Hall at the Arts Centre. 1
