PA Wellington The Government will probably make a decision by October on a proposal to make synthetic petrol from Maui natural gas. Mr P. W. Marriott, managing director of Mobil Oil N.Z., Ltd, said yesterday that an answer to his company’s SSOOM proposal was expected by October. Mobil has asked the Government to join it in a
joint venture project to convert natural gas to i high-octane petrol. Mr Marriott said that I the SSOOM cost estimate was based on today’s, costs. The Minister of Energy I (Mr Birch) recently discussed the natural gas conversion process with I Mobil in the United i States. Proposed details, page 2
