No surprises in Canty table tennis team
There are no surprises in the Canterbury table tennis team to compete at the national championships in Auckland late in August.
The men’s team will be led by Wayne Adamson, who recently won his fifth Canterbury open championships title. The national representative, Jan Morris, will lead the women’s team which will include the veteran player, Thelma May. one of Canterbury’s most experienced representatives.
The full team, which will be managed by Mr John Armstrong, is: — Men: W. D. Adamson, M. Burrows, S. Armstrong, M. Hamel. Women: Miss J. Morris, Miss C. Kehoe, Miss P. Shadbolt, Mrs T. May. Under 18 boys: S. Cairns, M. Clasper, J. Richards, M. Prisk. Under 18 girls: Miss F. Doyle, Miss J. Rhind, Miss D. Tipper, Miss J. Cotter. Under 14 boys: A. Marriott. A. Tana, K. Kelly. The Canterbury team to meet Hutt Valley and Wellington late next month has only one change from that to compete at the national championships. John Richards, the promising Avonside left-hander, will replace Adamson in the men ? s team.
