Egg-thrower fined
PA - Wellington A student who threw an egg during the opening of Parliament has been fined $l5O, with $BO costs, by Mr B. McK. Kerr, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington. Nicholas Hager, aged 20, a student, pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly behaviour. Sergeant F. Wood said Hager had been seen by the police to throw an egg, grass, and mud at officials during the opening ceremony and at official cars. Hager’s explanation was that he thought his action was socially acceptable. On behalf of Hager, Mr G. Rosenberg said his client now freely admitted he had done wrong. In the particular atmosphere of the demonstration he had not
thought he was being disorderly. He was now ashamed of having been carried away. The egg had been passed to him by another person.
