Mutton for Russia

PA Wellington An Auckland company has completed negotiations for a deal involving the supply of 7000 tonnes of . mutton, worth $7.5M, to Russia. The sales manager of Amalgamated Marketing, Ltd (Mr R. Finlayson) has said that the meat would be shipped by the end of July. It would bring the total supplied to Russia by the company this year to more than 50,000 tonnes. The latest deal resulted in a works payment of H3c a kilogram. 43c a kilogram more than the early season price of 70c. Mr Finlayson said this year’s tonnage to Russia had been a record. The previous best year had been in 1974, when about 40,000 tonnes had been exported.
