New search clue
PA Auckland An Air Force Orion will leave Whenuapai airbase at three o’clock this morning for the New Hebrides in search of the crew of the missing Auckland yacht, Ponsonby Express. The search for the boat was re-activated after the island freighter, Tui Cakau, sighted debris the same colour as the blue and white racer on June 1, 130 kilo-
metres south of Viti Levu. The Orion plans to stay in the area until tonight. A private search went ahead yesterday off North Cape and relatives of the missing crew plan to charter aircraft from Vila on Monday for the rest of the week. Mr Gordon Angus, brother of the yacht’s skipper, Mr Noel Angus, said last night he was still hopeful of the crew being found alive.
