DC10 decision soon
PA Wellington Ministry of Transport officials will decide early next week if Air New Zealand’s DCIO fleet can fly again.
The Governments of several European countries, including France, intend to return their DClOs to the air next week, subject to their airlines’ compliance with a series of checks and more frequent inspections. After a full briefing by Air New Zealand’s chief executive, Mr M. R. Davis, on the circumstances of the ground-
ing of the airline’s eight DClOs, the Air New Zealand board, which met in Auckland, withheld plans to reduce staff connected with international flights. In Washington, a federal judge yesterday extended for 10 days his order to ground all United States-registered DClOs. The action by Judge Aubrey Robinson was mostly academic, because the Federal Aviation Administration grounded the jets last Wednesday for an indefinite period.
