Shipping rates rise
PA Auckland Tasman, Pacific Island, and some coastal freight rates will increase by between 8.5 per cent and 13 per cent on services run by the Union Steam Ship Company. The second freight-rate increase the company has applied this year, it will raise charges substantially. The Tasman freight-rate increase to be applied on
July 1 will be 8.5 per cent. Pacific Island rates will go up by 9.5 per cent, and coastal services from Onehunga to Nelson and on other coastal services from Tauranga will rise by 11 per cent. A 13 per cent increase will be applied to the company’s Lyttelton, Nelson, and Dunedin roll-on service.
