Johnson using Kapuni gas
PA Auckland Johnson Wax New Zealand, Ltd, has become one of the first manufacturing companies to use iso-butane gas produced at Kapuni. The managing director (Mr M. P. O’Sullivan) said that the company had been using this gas as an aerosol propellant for some years, as there was no danger of damage to the earth’s ozone layer. Until iso-butane becomes available from Kapuni. Johnson’s requirements had been imported from Australia. The company has installed a special tank for the gas, which is transported from Kapuni by tanker. The tank was made by Andersons Engineering, Ltd. of Christchurch, a subsidiary of Ceramco, Ltd. Johnson Wax also intended to covert the majority of vehicles to run on I liquid petroleum gas.
