Mt Hutt still open
Although no snow has, fallen at Mount Hutt for two weeks, about half the mountain is still skiable and there is no thought of any closing. There has been temporary unloading of skiers at the top of 2B (three-quarters of the way up) and sometimes only the bottom T-bar has been operating, but there is still “adequate snow to provide a service,” according to the chairman of the Mount
Hutt Company (Mr P. Yeoman).
Mr Yeoman said it was a remarkable period of winter with the shortest day only a week away and no falls for a fortnight. However, up-and-down seasons were nothing unusual and Mount Hutt was still open while rain closed other fields and there was no snow in Australia.
