PA Wellington A petition from the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament asking that a treaty for a nuclear-free zone in the South Pacific be presented to the South Pacific Forum was presented by Mr W. W. Freer (Lab., Mt Albert) when Parliament sat at 2.30 p.m. yesterday.
The annual reports of the Valuation Department and the Legal Aid Board were tabled. Members gave 16 notices of motion and Ministers answered 17 questions and three urgent questions. The report of the Public ; Expenditure Committee was presented and the de-
bate on it was adjourned until Friday. Mr D. L. Kidd (Nat, Marlborough) closed the Address-in-Reply debate and Parliament voted to present the address to the Governor-General (Sir Keith Holyoake). The Misuse of Drugs Amendment Bill (No. 2) was given a second read-
ing, as was the Misuse of Drugs Amendment Bill. The Contractural Remedies Bill and the Bills of Exchange Amendment Bill were given second readings. The second reading debate on the Maori Trustee Amendment Bill was interrupted when the House rose at 10.30 p.m.
