Market expects interest rates to go higher
Industrial stocks eased in Australia yesterday on the belief that interest rates on Commonwealth Bonds would go higher. However, B.H.P. closed 2c higher at 914 c, after rising to 924 c during the morning. CSR made a gain of 17c. The stock will be quoted cum the one-for-four scrip issue at par, until next Monday. WMC gained 3c to 228 c. The company has been in the news over plans for the development and funding of its Yeelirrie uranium deposits, in Western Australia. Gold stocks were mixed, CRA was steady, MIM gained 2c, and North BH eased a cent.
