‘Third test’ for Irish
NZPA Brisbane The Irish rugby union captain, Fergus Slattery, regards tomorrow’s match against the champion Queensland XV as “the unofficial third test” of his team’s tour of Australia. “A win would give Ireland a strong psychological advantage for the two internationals.” Slattery said soon after the tourists arrived at Brisbane. Australia will play Ireland in the first test at Ballymore Oval on June 3, and Queensland is expected to dominate the selection after its 48-10 thrashing of New South Wales.
