Rangi Ruru origins a mystery
Although Rangi Rum School’s first 90 years will fe celebrated this year, the school’s origins remain jbscure. It is a mystery that the headmistress, Mrs R. A. fldam wants cleared up. She Kould be pleased to hear from anyone with information about the school’s first fears. Before 1889, Rangi Ruru Izas run by Ada, Jessie and Kate Gresham. It V'as probibly called "Hessle School,” lays Mrs Adam. In that fear. Miss Helen Gibson acluired the school from the Gresham sisters. A visiting Maori chief,: »aora-Taki. gave the school Is name, Rangi Ruru (Wide iky Shelter), in 1890. 1
