A young Christchurch policeman who had been in Burwood Hospital since an incident at an Addington hotel last Saturday was discharged yesterday. Constable Wayne Haussmann, aged 27, was punched in the face while he was questioning a group of persons about a brawl in the Lion Tavern, in Lincoln Road. He suffered fractured facial bones, and later underwent surgery. A man has since appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in connection with the incident.
