No arrest in stabbing
Christchurch detectives are investigating the stabbing of a man who was found ■ lying semi-conscious in Rolleston Avenue, near Christ’s I College, about 12.30 a.m. yesterday. , The man, Nicholas Matson, aged 25, was admitted ; to The Princess Margaret Hospital with stab wounds to the chest and wrists, and head injuries. He was reported to be in a satisfactory condition last evening. Mr Matson told the police that he had been attacked when trying W help a man who was being assaulted by several youths. Detectives have so far been unable to trace the second man. They will interview Mr Matson again today. Mr Matson’s father, Mr J. N. Matson, a Christchurch barrister and solicitor, was Chancellor of the University of Canterbury for several years. The Christchurch C. 1.8.
yesterday appealed for information from anyone who might have seen an incident in Rolleston Avenue about midnight.
