Doctor’s body found
PA Dunedin The body of Roxburgh’s only resident doctor was found by a search party at Sandfly Bay, on the Otago Peninsula, yesterday morning after an extensive search. He was Dr Duncan Andrew Doig,| aged 32. Dr Doig went missiag on! Tuesday. The search for him' began when a note was found at Larnach Castle. The search continued until after dark.
A big team of police and' civilian volunteers began to' search again at dawn yester-'. day. Dr Doig’s body wasj sighted by a helicopter ati 10.15 a.m. A ground party was directed to the place and the body was recovered. The police declined to reveal what the note said.
Dr Doig graduated from the University of Otago Medical School about nine years ago and worked at Kew Hospital, Invercargill, for some time. He moved to Roxburgh in 1976. According to one of his colleagues al, Alexandra, Dr lan Davidson, Dr Doig was a good general practitioner. “He was a quiet man and very sincere,” he said. Dr Doig was married, with children.
