Good start for L.P.G. pump
PA Auckland A $50,000 liqufied petroleum gas station opened its pumps to motorists in Auckland on Sunday. The refuelling station, at the suburb of Freemans Bay, has ■ been installed by the Auckland Gas Company, Ltd, which says it is the safest system in New Zealand. Officials are surprised at the business the station has attracted. Many taxis run on L.P.G., but some private motorists have had their vehicles con-
verted. The only problem is getting enough supplies to keep new customers satisfied. Until the end of the year, this will be the only gas fuel that private motorists will be able to buy. There is at present no public compressed natural gas station in Auckland. The gas company has ordered equipment from overseas to set up a C.N.G. station in Auckland. It is discussing a site for the station with city council planners.
