Station cattle sell well
Buyers from Dunedin to Christchurch attended the sale of Hakataramea station cattle in the Hakataramea saleyards in South Canterbury. A total of 1900 Hereford cattle were put up for auction on behalf of the station’s new owners by Dalgety New Zealand, Limited. They brought prices described as fully firm on recent market rates. The following is a range of values:— Hereford cows running with a Hereford bull: heavy, $327 to $356; medium, $2ll to $258: light, $lO3. Two ana a half-year-old Hereford heifers running with Hereford bull: good, $272 to $326: light, $192. Twenty-month empty heifers: good, $lB2 to $198; medium, $l6O to $167; light, $l3l. Hereford steer calves: good, $167 to $190: medium. $137 to $162; small, $B9 to $llO. Shorthorn-Hereford steer calves: $l4l to $l7O. Hereford heifer calves: good, $l4B to $169; medium, $l2O to $130; small, $7O to $lO2. Shorthorn . Hereford heifer calves: $134 to $156.
