Appeal over board post
PA Nelson An appeal has been lodged against the appointment of Nelson’s Town Clerk (Mr L. G. Ardell) as general manager of the Marlborough Harbour Board. The chairman of the Harbour Board and acting general manager (Mr H. J. Stace) said in Picton yesterday that, under the regulations for harbour boards, staff had a right to appeal if it was felt promotion was being unduly withheld. The appeal against Mr Ardell’s appointment had been lodged by the assistant general manager (Mr M. J. Goulden) said Mr Stace. It will be heard by a special board of three, presided over by a magistrate. Mr Stace said that a decision was not expected until June.
