Rise for fares
NZPA-Reuter Geneva Airline managers representing most of the world’s international carriers have agreed to increase passenger fares and cargo rates between 5 and 10 per cent to offset increased fuel costs, according to an airline spokesman yesterday. But most of the increases would be in the lower part of the per centage bracket, the spokesman for the International Air Transport Association said. The proposed increases, likely to vary according to differences in regional trading conditions and the relative strength of the 65 airlines’ national currencies, will be submitted to governments for approval.
