Custody difficulties

Sir, — It seems that Mr lan Daily and his three-year-old daughter (“The Press,” March 24) are victims of the refusal by the English judiciary to act fairly in matters of custody and access. The English courts evidently have a “brick wall” solution — no custody to men, regardless. This deliberate denial of access to the legislated provisions for relief can be too provocative. Surely no society can refuse the provisions of the law to certain men, then justifiably pounce on them when they step outside it. In denying aid to men who peacefully, though naively, request it, societies nullify their right to expect conformity to their rules, and inadvertently incite a man to find solutions of his own. Mr Daily at present saves for a new legal battle. How very foolish. — Yours, etc., P. S. BRIGHT. March 24, 1979.
