LTD. seeks a topflight Technical Executive for the position of Technical Services Manager. This large Company is situated in the Western Bay of Plenty, with its Head Office at Te Puke. The Bay of Plenty Co-operative Dairy Association Limited has two manufacturing units, one in Te Puke, where Solids Non Fat and Fat-based milk products are manufactured and one at Katikati, where Casein exclusively is produced. On last year’s production figures the Milk fat intake was in excess of 9J • / tillion kilogrammes. The successful applicant will be based in Te Puke and a modern Company house will be available if required, at a moderate rental. Applicants should possess the technical knowledge and experience required to contribute to the development of new and existing products and be sufficiently conversant with process methodology to advise on and participate in projects consistent with the Company’s long term aims. The position demands an applicant with broad Managerial experience, leadership qualities and sufficient motivational skills to administer the Laboratory and technical services functions of the Company and to have a diplomatic approach with people at all levels within the staff structure so that quality standards are assessed, maintained and advised on. An important aspect of the job function is to complete the setting up and control of Quality Assurance on all products. THE HYDRO ELECTRIC COMMISSION : TASMANIA : SOIL CONSERVATION OFFICER or ENGINEER CLASSIFICATION: Professional Scientist or Professional Engineer according to qualifications. SALARY RANGE: Professional Scientist, commencing in a range up to $19,339 p.a. depending on experience. Professional Engineer, commencing in a range up to $20,084 pa., depending on experience. LOCATION: Hobart, with field visits as required. DUTIES: To direct and assist in soil conservation and environmental rehabilitation in all areas of the Commission’s responsibility. To initiate new techniques and improve existing practice. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess a degree or diploma in engineering, forestry, agriculture or an associate discipline preferably with additional qualifications in landscaping, botany or biology. EXPERIENCE: Extensive practical experience of not less than 5 years is required in at least some of the following activities — erosion control, soil conservation, re-vegetation or landscaping. The appointee will require to be self-motivated and capable of formulation work and codes of practice and ensuring their successful application. Experience with a soil conservation authority or mining company in similar work could be advantageous.
