White Ind. expects coal sales
NZPA Sydney The active pursuit of European and South-East Asian markets by White Industries, Ltd, for its Ulan steaming coal could produce firm sales within the next five months. The group struck its first major steaming coal export deal last July when it signed a letter of intent with Japan’s Kyushu Electric Power Company to supply from April 1, 1983, 4M (tonnes in 20 years.
According to a company spokesman, White Industries is “confident of achieving sales in other areas before June.”
The company has also received results from its first trial shipment of steaming coal to a European powersupply company during the (June-quarter of last year. “Very promising for future (business,” the spokesman (said. He also advised that the igroup had sent a second trial shipment of about 55,000 tonnes to Europe last I month.
