Frigate command
Commander I. A. Hunter, a former pupil of Christchurch Boys’ High School, who will assume command of HMNZS Waikato on January 15. Commander Hunter joined the Royal New Zealand Navy as a midshipman in 1957 and has since served in many parts of the world, including Northern Ireland and Antarctica. He graduated from the RNZAF command and staff college in 1973* and was promoted to the ’rank of commander in 1976. The present commander of the frigate Waikato, Cantain I. L. S. B. Bradley will go to Defence Headquarters in Wellington.
