Building permits’ value up

More than 240 building permits, with a value of 59.5 M, were issued by the' Christchurch City Council in December. In December. 1977, 286 permits with a value of 52.3 M were issued. The numbers of permits issued in 1977 and 1978 to I December 31 were about the same (2424 and 2703 respectively). and their values very similar —532.7 M and 532.8 M. Most permits were issued in Spreydon (51). The lowest number was issued for the central city (25), but there the value was highest, at SBM. In Spreydon. the value of permits issued was $235,000. The commercial sector accounted for the highest value in permits, S7.BM. The only commercial permits issued in December were for the central city. In the total area, 27 residential permits were issued for 34 new' units, of a value of $779,146. Eighty-one permits were issued for alterations, to the value of $279,000. Alterations to industrial premises accounted for 16 of 18 permits issued for industrial zones. In the commercial zone, the value of S7.BM in permits issued was made up of four permits. Fourteen permits made up the balance of $107,000.
