Rink for Hornby

Hornby will soon have an indoor roller skating rink: approval was granted yesterday by the Paparua County Council’s town-planning hearing committee.

The application by Christchurch Skatelands, and Mr J. S. Mitchell , was unanimously approved subject to certain conditions on fire safetv, parking, and the provision of bicycle racks. The rink will occupy the western end of an existing

building in Chappie Place built by G.U.S. Properties and leased to Dominion Storage, Ltd. The area to be used for skating and other indoor sports practice is about 1200 sq m.

No objection was received to the application which was supported by the Canterbury Amateur Roller Skating Club. The club has about 120 members, mainly children aged six to 14. _
