Reid and Sword dominant at cycling meeting

The evening's dominant and most successful riders, Kim Reid and Lyn Sword were fittingly two of the three main performers in the final event of the final track cycling meeting of the year at English Park last evening.
As it happened, both won three races, both won a cup, but Reid marginally stole the show from Sword with his blazing finish in the 10,000 m for the Vette Cup, but Sword Was not too far away In fact, had Sword held Ivan Steele's wheel when the latter dived away with 500 m to ride, he may well have picked up his second trophy for the season. But the under-raced Steele actually had too much speed for Sword, and it took a typically flying finish from Reid to peg him back. At the other end of the distance scale, Reid had won the two 400 m races. while Sword proved pre-eminent in the B grade events, over 000 m and 2000 m. But his best effort was in the winning of the Svd Poore Cup. after a final in which the honest front-markers held at bay a full field of back-markers. Yet again, the novice events were well spread around. Craig! Adair and Steve Woods, the scratch markers, showed great' spirit and speed to lead home I the rest in the handicap 400 m,; and Adair won the Vette Cup,! over 1000 m. handsomely as weft.' Gavin Visser had two wins in! the B grade, but for strength and consistency. none could; match Brian Fowler in the points' race, won comfortably from
