Heathcote power up
Heathcote County residents! will have to pay 5 per cent! more for their electricitv 1 from next April. Thev face the possibility of a further increase after that. The 5 per cent increase re-! suits from a decision bv the Government to increase bv 5 per cent the charge for supplying bulk electricitv to local authorities. The Government said that; local authorities could increase their charges bv up to 7 per cent. The council has approved a 5 per cent increase and has asked its electrical engineer (Mr I. R. Densem) to investigate whether it should in-1 crease the charge bv a further 2 per cent.
| Mr Densem said the council’s budget for this year had I been prepared with wage and material increases estimated at 12 per cent. While 'materials had increased close 'to this figure, wages over-all
