$386,000 damages award
NZPA Los Angeles ’ A Federal court has awarded $NZ386,400 in datnl! ages' to a Florida man whose 1 New Zealand-born wife and son were killed in the 1974 J crash of a Pan American World Airways jet in Pago i Pago. The award went to David i Redford, aged 44. of Melborne. Florida, after a threeIday damage trial before District Judge Matthew Byrne. ;The judge has presided over [litigation in the crash for the Hast 10 months.
i Mr Redford s wife, Jennifer aged 27, and their son. Blair j David, aged 2. were among 97 -persons killed when a Pan lAm Boeing 707 crashed in a ;heavy downpour while api proaching Pago Pago’s airiport. | Mr Redford’s lawyers, the aviation crash specialists, Floyd Demanes and Bruce Albion Bailey, said their client had won substantial damages bcause a jury bad found Pan Am guilty of wilful misconduct in the crash in a previous phase of the case.
