POTTERY AND CERAMICS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION carries out research to meet the developing requirements of the New Zealand Manufacturers of tableware, sanitaryware, electrical porcelain, bricks, pipes and refractories. An opportunity exists for a research engineer to participate in research related particularly to the testing of masonry structures. Current work includes the testing of brick, veneer panels under simulated earthquake loading using a versatile and well equipped ferrohydraulic testing facility. The successful applicant will be in charge of the structure testing facilities and will be expected to work on the design of masonry, planning and supervision of testing and interpretation of masonry standards as they affect brick masonry construction.
