Only one unbeaten
Only one player, the young Avonside I lefthander, John Richards, is unbeaten after six completed rounds of the A grade summer table tennis competition. In those 18 wins he has dropped only four games. Two players, Stuart Armstrong (Riccarton I) and Richards’s team-mate, Maurice Burrowes, have suffered one loss each.
Armstrong was beaten in three games by Jan Morris while Burrowes was beaten in straight games by Jeremy Simons in the third round of play.
Michael Hamel (Linwood I), Martin Kelly, the third member of the Avonside I team, and Bill Scott, playing this season for Avonside 11, have each been beaten twice, although Scott has played onlv five rounds.
The competition will recommence after the holiday break, on January 24.
