Power breaks

Sir, — Could someone please tell us why the power has consistently had to be restored round about TVl’s Sugar Loaf area just about noon at least twice this week and on numerous other occasions, affecting most of the Banks Peninsula area. The fact that only one channel is available in this area' is a sore point with most viewers; out now to be at the mercy of the Power Board as to if and when TVI is available for viewing from mid-day we find hard to understand. Surely the power could be turned off at a more convenient time or in the case of a power failure be assured of a more adequate service. I live with an elderly relative who looks forward to viewing certain afternoon programmes but is feeling very frustrated about the service (or should I say the lack of it) recently. —■ Yours, etc., J. BROWN. BARRYS BAY. November 24, 1978. [Mr Caird, Regional Engineer. central services division of the Broadcasting Corporation of New Zealand, replies: “We have had a fault at. the. Mount . Pierce translator which we are still investigating. This fault has caused the translator to go off the air on occasions.”]
