Man dies when car hits pole
A young Christchurch man was killed when the car he was driving struck a pole in Blenheim Road about 8.30 p.m. on Saturday. He was Clive William Johnstone, aged 28, of Flat No. 4, 52 Springfield Road, St Albans. The accident occurred in Blenheim Road, just west of Annex Road, as Mr Johnstone was driving towards the city. He was killed instantly, the police said.
