Locarno picked at Washdyke
Locarno will be a commanding favourite for the Highfield Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Timaru Trotting Club’s meeting at Washdyke tomorrow.
The son of Local Light is booked to travel north later in the week for a campaign a t Alexandra Park, where his main mission will be the New Zealand Messenger. He recorded a splendid trial for Washdyke when be came fast but a shade late for a close third to Waralene and Ice Wise on Saturday, half heads separating them. Seafield Hanover, from Kerrytown, and Hajano, from Oamaru, will be two of the hardest for Locarno to beat, while there will be support for In to View, Sail Again and Torle. Flaxton, Armbro Rhythm and Don Cortez could be the pick of an even lot in the second leg, the West End Handicap. Selections:—
