General Election

Sir, — It is time that men of integrity and business acumen were chosen and trained for the important job of managing the nation on a sound business basis. They should be trained in all aspects of business management, social welfare, languages and diplomacy. The party system, with its negative opposition factor, should be abolished in favour of negotiation by agreement — sensible discussion rather than opposing for opposing’s sake. Matters of a controversial nature could go back to the people for a vote which would be based on numbers alone. Cities and counties could be run by the councils with a chosen representative from each making up a central national committee responsible for running the whole country. Sound, strong and dignified management and leadership at the top level is

essential for retaining the respect of the people. — Yours, etc., W. MARGARET DENNIS. December 1, 1978.
